We are seeking an experienced Director of Surgical Services. Graduate from an approved school of nursing with current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of North Carolina, possesses ACLS training and membership in AORN preferred. Has knowledge of current trends and techniques in nursing appropriate to the practice setting. Ten or more years recent clinical experience in Operating Room, Post Anesthesia Care Unit and Outpatient Surgical Services as well as Central Processing; including at least five years management experience. They will emphasis on strong leadership and interpersonal skills to manage working relationships. BSN required, MSN preferred.
The Director of Surgical Services is a professional nurse leader/manager responsible for the overall management of Surgical Services. Responsible for assessing, planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating all nursing, administrative and related technical activities to ensure care of all patients in Surgical Services to include Operating Room, Post Anesthesia Care Unit and Outpatient Surgical Services. Is responsible for ensuring all departmental activities are in compliance with standards established by JCAHO, DFS, hospital bylaws, departmental regulations and institutional policy and procedures and Surgical Services Standards of Nursing Practice for patient care. Responsibilities also include performance improvement activities, human resource management, fiscal management, supply and equipment management, customer service focus as well as developing and cultivating partnership with all members of the healthcare team including physicians. The Director must be a positive role model by demonstrating professional practice and behavior, being competent in all areas under his/her direction and actively supporting mission, vision, and values of the organization.
